Lisa Gochman is the author of "At the Altar of the Appellate Gods: Arguing in the US Supreme Court" (Indiana University Press 2022). Lisa's memoir captures the terror, wonder, and joy of defending the constitutionality of New Jersey's Hate Crime Statute before the Rehnquist Court in Washington, D.C., in March 2000. Recently retired from the practice of criminal appellate law, Lisa is a volunteer at the Asbury Book Coop on Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey. She and her husband Steven spend all their free time and money following the insanely talented musicians in and around Asbury Park.
